Pro Se Clinic I: Assistance in preparing forms for filing your case.  Free of charge.  Class is held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Jury Assembly Room, W113.

 

Children and Families in Transition Seminar

MANDATORY FOR ALL DIVORCE AND ALLOCATION OF PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY FILINGS

WHEN:          2nd AND 4th  Wednesday starting at 5:30

                       3rd Friday of each month (NOT the last Friday of each month!)

                        from 12:00 pm (Noon) to 1:30 pm

WHERE:       270 S. Tejon, Room W113 (Jury Assembly Room)

WHY:             This is required for all divorcing parents and allocation of parental responsibility cases, (in El Paso and Teller Counties), of children under 18 years of age, within 45 days of filing and before final orders can be set.

MAKE SURE TO BRING YOUR CASE NUMBER, THIS IS HOW YOU RECEIVE CREDIT FOR THE CLASS.

WHAT:          You will watch two videos, one about the effects of divorce on children,

                        The other about legal terms and the legalities of the divorce process. 

                        There will be an attorney and a mental health professional there,

                        Volunteering their time, to answer your questions.

Court Care: Free child care provided to all parties conducting court business. The center is open from 7:30am to 5:00pm. The center is available during the Children and Families in Transition Seminar: you must call 2 days prior for child care on those days.

Adoption Clinic: Free “How to Adoption Clinic” Instructions on how to handle your own stepparent, kinship, and custodial adoption. Held on the third Thursday of each month from 12:00pm to 1:00pm in Room W160.  An attorney will be available to provide basic information. Be sure to bring your paperwork.

Parenting classes offered 3 hours per week for 16 weeks.  Teen classes are also offered 2 hours per week for 18 weeks.  Fees are based on a sliding fee scale.
